On Saturday Kate and I did the Tour de Lopez for the second year in a row.
(photos from last year here)
We got up early, loaded the bikes, and drove to Anacortes to catch the 8:30 ferry.
It was a sunny drive all the way until we got out of the car,
when it of course started raining. Fortunately by the time we
got off the ferry on Lopez Island it had stopped.
We did the 18 mile loop, which used to be
the slightly different 17 mile loop from last year.
We rode past beautiful fields and ponds.
We saw horses, sheep, and cows.
Good thing Kate and I both love farm animals!
We also saw many bald eagles, including some
juveniles that loved to fly in circles above us.
One place we stopped was the cemetery, which is beautiful.
Betty held up ok on her first tour, but she was
having major issues with chain slippage.
Which of course was super annoying for me.
My chain fell off 5 times and by the end of the tour I refused
to change gears because I was so tired of the problems.
Sad face.
The only other sad thing was that the winery we loved last year
moved their tasting room so it's no longer along the route back to the ferry.
Disappointing!
We ended up getting to the ferry two hours early
and took a nap on a metal grate in the sun.
I had some interesting marks on my leg when I woke up.
Overall it was another great year.
Hopefully next year I won't be sick to we can
camp again like we did last time!
