Book-Style Invite/Card DIY

One of my best friends is getting married in a month and a half,
and she has chosen the absolute best bachelorette party theme ever...
Lumberjack! I'm beyond excited.
For the invitations, I found this perfect faux bois paper and matching plaid.
It's an old Cosmo Cricket line that I found
marked down at good old trusty Ben Franklin.
I made this invitation book-style. It would work for any other theme
and would also make a great card. Father's Day is coming up!

Here's the How To for this book-style invite/card:
For this project you will need:
embroidery floss
embroidery needle
mini clothespins or paper clips
paper piercer
glue stick
paper trimmer
pretty paper for the cover/back/binding
paper for pages

I made my invitations 5x7, so I cut the cover and back to that size.
Then I cut a 2x5 strip of the plaid paper and folded it in half for the binding.
I also decided to die cut little trees for the covers with the plaid paper.
For the inside, I used Publisher and a free downloadable font
to create the pages and had them printed at Kinkos.
I had to remember to leave an extra margin on
one side to accommodate the binding.

I put my pages in order, placed the paper binding on one side,
and used mini clothespins to hold the book together securely.
I used my paper piercer over some cardboard to pre-pierce my holes.
This made the actual stitching MUCH easier! No needles in my fingers.

I separated my embroidery floss into two 3-strand sections and stitched away.
I chose an overcast stitch, but any type of stitch would do.

The finished product looks like a little book.
Think of all the possibilities here!
