Day 158: one-eyed Bobby

As you can see, Bobby is having an issue with one eye.

After an awesome (so not) day at work,

I got to take both kittens to the vet.

Even though it's been less than two weeks since our last visit.

Each of them has gained a pound in that short time.

And Bobby pooped on the floor in the exam room.

That's what they get for keeping us waiting.

purse project

Here's a quick and easy way to spruce up an old purse.

Remember that leather one I found for $2?

All you need is some thread, needles, beads, and a thimble

(it helps if you're trying to get that needle through a leather purse).

See how handy those little bowls are for holding beads?

Then just stitch away!

I copied the thunderbird pattern on one of my moccasins.

Just a cheap and easy project.
And I loooove my new purse!

Saturday finds

Yesterday I woke up extra early to hit an estate sale in Burien

that I'd been looking forward to all week.

I left with armloads of stuff and only spent $30.

Here are some of my favorite finds:

A white vintage pyrex bowl.

This cute old food scale. It works and matches my kitchen.

A couple little hens. Any idea what these were originally for?

A set of 4 little bowls.

Great for holding craft supplies, as you'll see in my next post.

This great little yellow toolbox. I needed one and this is perfect!

A little family of deer.

This pitcher that looks so familiar...

I think my grandparents may have had this exact one?

This tin full of great vintage buttons and random buckles, etc.

Every crafter needs a good vintage button collection!

This cute vintage dress.

It needs a trip to the dry cleaners but I'm excited to wear it!

This old leather purse.

Some great country albums.

I don't collect vinyl but I loved the look of these.

They each have a different wood background.

I thought they'd be fun hanging on a wall together.

I am so addicted to estate sales! It's like treasure hunting.

Day 157: a bit British

This afternoon consisted of fish and chips at the Market Arms in Ballard

followed by The King's Speech at the Guild 45th in Wallingford.

Great afternoon with my awesome parents!

Day 156: I love Saturdays

Today was awesome from start to finish.

I got up at 6:30 in order to be amongst the first to enter an amazing estate sale in Burien.

Then I had yoga with Kelly.

We hit another estate sale and ate lunch at Hi Life in Ballard,

bought some supplies for a certain project at Joanne's,

and stopped in at Cupcake Royale for...cupcakes!

Then we took some photos for a secret surprise,

and spent the afternoon crafting and watching our new favorite show.

Now I'm finishing off season 2 of my guilty pleasure...

True Blood. It's embarrassing.

I'll post photos of my finds tomorrow when I can get photos in the daylight!

Day 155: staff party

We had a staff party after work today to celebrate the end of a semester.

This cutie is Natalie.

Sorry for the poor quality picture.

The hipstamatic doesn't much like dim light and moving babies.

I'll be calling it a night fairly early this evening

in order to be the first to arrive

at what looks to be a very promising estate sale early tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure that makes me a loser.

I'll be sure to post what I find :)

I am eternally grateful to Elsie for posting this about Bloglovin and getting me hooked.

Day 154: yesterday's finds

Yesterday's adventure was a trip to some thrift stores.

Kate and I hit up Earthwise without any luck.

Next we went to the Goodwill Outlet, which was crazy.

Not in a good way. 

All they had were mountains of clothes and some broken junk.

And you know what they do when the clothes fall on the floor?

They sweep them up with a broom along with all the other dirt.

Finally we hit gold at the Salvation Army.

That thrift store is swanky!

 It doesn't even smell weird.

Everything is organized and not crammed together in heaps.

Oh and most things are labeled with stickers that say "bric-a-brac".

I love that.

For a total of $6 I bought a book

(surprise for a friend, so I can't tell you what it is)

a red metal basket to put my gardening gloves in,

and this off-white container I'm going to use for big flowers or maybe twigs.

I also bought this great metal desk organizer that I put to use in my classroom.

It holds my gradebook, planning materials, and all the essentials I need at hand.

Plus it's metal, so I can attach things to it with magnets.

I love magnets.

I love being able to satisfy my shopping cravings without actually spending much money.

Day 153: Seattle sky

This is the view on the way to a little adventure.

I'll post about it soon, but right now all I can do is sleep.

Day 152: I love technology

Temperature probes and netbooks have made my job so much easier.

Once again my love of technology is reaffirmed.

And now I have Kip's song stuck in my head.

Day 151: good mail

I got home from a not-so-awesome day at work and what do I find in my mailbox...

vegetable seeds and Best Coast tickets!

Day 150: snowshoeing

Today was my first time ever snowshoeing.

Finally!

Of course I loved it.

The weather was definitely better than last Sunday.

Just a light drizzle and some fog.

Can't wait to go again!

Hopefully next weekend.

I'm off to have dinner with the fam, but I have a cake post coming soon!

Day 149: sale & salvage saturday

One of my new favorite weekend activities is hitting up cheap spots for used goods.

I found the drawers today at the Re-Store in Ballard. $3 each.

I'm going to drill some holes in the bottom, fill them with dirt, and use them as raised beds!

I also hit up a fantastic estate sale.

It was a tiny house in Shoreline that belonged to a real life hoarder.

They were only letting in 10 people at a time,

and once inside it was a matter of opening drawers

and digging through piles (literally piles) of junk.

There were two rooms full of fabric and sewing things.

The backyard was full of plastic pots that they'll be giving away for free tomorrow.

I found the tomato cages, rebar, and cute yellow bucket above for my garden.

 I also found a couple small trellises, also for the garden.

I'm going to have an epic hodpodge vegetable garden this year :)

From the mountains of sewing stuff I grabbed a few trims in pretty colors,

pins and several yards of linen for crafting.

This was actually only $1!

 Last of all I found this cashmere old man sweater from Scotland in one of the fabric mountains.

Only $1 and in great condition!

For everything pictured here I paid only $11.

Score!

Day 148: going out

Half of the battle is getting off the couch after a week of work.

The other half is choosing an outfit.

But with those two things accomplished,

I'm off to see Ghost Town Riot in Fremont.

Eastlake Photo Walk
