my Little

no photos.
no catching up.
just words tonight.

Today I met my new Little Sister.
I knew that she wore glasses, loved the environment,
and didn't want to ride her scooter for fear of crushing ants.
Tonight I learned that she believes Smurfs are real.
She can climb a tree like nobody's business.
She believes bugs and humans are equal.
She wants me to bring my cats in the car next time we hang out.
She thinks the dolls in her room are going to come alive
and murder her in the middle of the night.
I remember thinking that too.

She's sensitive and a chatterbox.
We are both pretty bad at frisbee.
We are both really good at charades.
In two hours I got two big hugs.

On Sunday we're going to the park and then riding bikes.
Life is good.

{365 of 2012} Week 28

Photos from last week!
Sunday morning fun at the cabin

Bobby's favorite seat in the house.

Recipe coming soon!

Kayaking on Lake Union on a hot day after class = perfect!

Gorgeous sunset from my neighborhood.

Dean caught stealing blueberries. He throws them on the floor.

Another recipe to share soon!

Birmingham

Just dropping by to share a song I LOVE.
I first heard it on the way to work this Spring.
It was love at first listen.
That's a thing.
They are playing a free show at the Mural in Seattle 8/3.
In the meantime, please witness the glory that is Birmingham by Shovels and Rope:
And you can listen to the whole album for free here! (scroll down).
Enjoy, friends.
I know I can't get enough of these two.

Summit Lake

Last June I spent my first weekend at Summit Lake
It was fun to go back this year with a totally different group.
The weather was perfect! So warm.
We sang by the fire and ate delicious food.
I did physics homework by the lake
while everyone else swam and/or fished.
Here are some of my favorite photos from the weekend:

Thanks to Lauren for hosting and for all of my friends for being so fun!

{365 of 2012} Week 27

Summer is finally in full swing around here,
so spending time inside on a computer is a little low on the priority list.
No offense!
Here are last week's photos:

Lots of peas ready for picking. Sugar snap to the left, snow to the right.

Physics homework made more difficult thanks to Dean.

Tonight's mini golf theme was "facial hair".
Lauren and I dressed as lumber jacks to match ours.

4th of July BBQ with a gorgeous view of the best city!

My garden is exloding right now. Already thinking about ways to expand.

Spent the weekend at Lauren's cabin, more on that later.
Friday night consisted of songs around this lovely fire.

Of all the photos I took at the cabin last weekend, this is my favorite.
Random? Yes.

July 4th Recap

I had a fabulous 4th of July with friends.

Lydia and Nate hosted on Capitol Hill, and this was our view!

We had a barbecue and enjoyed the view.

I walked home before dark to finish homework
and watch the fireworks from my couch.
Love having this view from the window,
but my neighborhood was one giant frat party.
The 4th was fun but I'm glad it only happens once a year!
The kitties are glad too.

{365 of 2012} Week 26

Here are my photos from last week:

Brunch and beverages before the Pride Parade!

Second to last day commuting across this bridge...

Last day of school celebratory cocktail before mini golf.

Lunch in Red Square, first day of class.

Bobby LOVES to steal veggies. Spinach and kale are his favorites.

This pillow was for sale outside a shop around the corner.
I spotted it walking home and just had to have it!

Lazy Saturday with my buddies.

Lake Twenty-Two

It's July now and these are the last of my catch up photos from May.
I went on a solo hike to Lake Twenty-two.

The lake was still about half frozen and surrounded by snow.

The sun overhead on the white snow made it almost too bright to see,
but I was surrounded by gorgeous walls of rock.

Most of the trail was snow-free, but all of a sudden it was feet deep.
Along the way I saw lots of wildflowers and lush greenery.
Nothing like Spring hiking in the PNW!
