My students asked me today what my resolutions were for 2011.
I've never been one to make resolutions because I always break them.
What's the point?
But there are some ideas I've had stuck in my head that could count for resolutions,
although I see them more as goals for the year
and changes I want to start making.
They all allow room for failure.
Perfect...
1. Eat out less, cook at home more.
I'd love to make this stuffed cabbage soon (I can use fake ground beef)
from Smitten Kitchen:
2. Work with the clothes I already have,
instead of buying new ones all the time.
I'm starting to like the idea of not matching.
This has given me a lot more options.
I'm SO inspired by Delightfully Tacky:
3. Keep my little house picked up.
I've been better about this,
but I still have work to do when it comes to dishes and mountains of clothes.
It helps if I have people over often, so feel free to invite yourself...
4. Do art when the mood strikes.
Those piles of papers can wait.
If I postpone creative energy until I have the time, it's gone.
It's time to act on those impulses.
Did some sketching tonight, ready for painting:
5. Make more lists.
I've always loved making lists,
but they were the little ones with what I needed to grade
and what needed to be cleaned.
Making lists of things I want to do (like this list you're reading)
makes me a more productive person
and helps me keep track of my progress on bigger goals.
I have this one on my fridge:
How about you?

Holly, my goals are almost completely my goals as well. :) Glad to know that other people have trouble not buying new clothes, eating out too much, and not being crafty when they'd really like to be. Good for you and GOOD LUCK!! :)
ReplyDeleteI like your resolutions Holly! Good luck! I especially like your list of 26 before 27! I might have to copy the idea.
