I've been keeping my suitcase collection a secret
until it became large enough to earn the official title of collection.
It started with one...then two...and after yesterday's estate sale extravaganza,
I feel I'm ready to share:
This little traincase was the starter.
I picked it up at the House of Vintage
when I was in Portland back in February.
I have it sitting with my shoes and plan to keep mittens and hats
in it during the winter months for easy access and orderly storage.
Next came my first full size suitcase, which I found on this trip
at my favorite antique store in Snohomish.
It's currently part of a little floorstack that also serves as a cat perch.
The first estate sale we went to yesterday was the second half
of a 93 year old hoarder's collection of you name it.
It was incredible how much stuff there was.
Lucky me I found this little gray beauty under a table full of napkin rings
(yes, there was an entire table full of napkin rings).
This next one was discovered at the last estate sale yesterday,
along with the two that follow. This one was only $2!
The people running the sale named me "The Suitcase Lady".
Same estate sale as the one above.
This last little one is my favorite.
But first I have to brag because the last three you saw
added up to only $12 all together.
I especially like the colors and design of this one.
It's on top of the cream one as part of my floorstack.
And here's the whole little family!
I love collecting suitcases because even though they take up space,
they are great for storage too!
I'm still on the lookout for my perfect coffee table,
so my collection has room to grow...
Which one is your favorite?
Any collections you're working on right now?

i LOVE the gray one and the brown and cream one is a close second!
ReplyDeletei, too, want to be a suitcase collector. :)
i started my collection with a super cool orange one i found in portland last may.
we shall see what another trip to portland next month reveals. :)
Holly! Brad and I found this awesome antique place in Sodo!! You probably already know about it but I found some more silver-really pretty scalloped jam spoons for my tea party collection!
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda partial to the red one. I have a great old one in my garage full of my grandmother's and my mother's sheet music. Maybe I should donate it to your cause.
