A friend's birthday was on superbowl Sunday.
So instead of bean dip or hot wings,
I decided to make a birthday cake.
A cake with beer as an ingredient, of course.
This recipe comes from Smitten Kitchen, where the recipes never fail.
Here are some of the main ingredients.
Really, how could you possible go wrong?
First melt the butter in with the beer and add the cocoa.
Drink the remaining beer.
Unless it's 9am and you just aren't feelin' it, which was the case here.
Sift together the dry ingredients.
Mix it all together, but only until blended.
Then fold by hand with a spatula.
Pour the batter into a bundt pan.
This part always makes me think of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".
Be sure to enjoy the batter.
Screw salmonella.
Once it comes out of the oven,
be sure to let it cool completely before attempting to remove it from the pan.
Just admire it from afar.
It's so pretty!!!!
But we still need to make the ganache.
Don't worry, it only has three ingredients.
Just my style.
Melt the ingredients together in a double boiler.
Drizzle the ganache over the cake.
I think I could have done a better job on this.
The results?
I thought it tasted pretty good!
Even the cats wanted to eat it...
They were so incredibly helpful (sarcasm)
they needed a nap when I was done.
