weekend ups and downs

First the ups. My kitties are so happy to have me home!
They even tolerated each others' presence on the couch for a while.
This pose allowed them to appear cute but also
kick and swat at each other when needed.

I went to yoga and lunch with Kelly on Saturday.
Then I went to the Magnolia Garden Center and bought...
my very first Christmas tree for my very own!
They had some really nice trees and I found the perfect
little 4' Noble to fit in my little house:

Isn't is cute? You may have noticed there aren't any ornaments...
I put two on as a test for the cats. Needless to say,
one is dead (I found a vintage Shiny Bright smashed to smithereens)
and the other is MIA (a little owl that has become a cat toy, I'm guessing).
I'm not going to risk any more, but the tree looks pretty enough with lights.

The cats LOVE the tree, Dean especially.
He tried to climb it at first, which would have been disastrous if
he had succeeded. He's a bit chubby and the tree would have
come down with him. Fortunately he got over it. Now he just sits and
stares at it for hours. Bobby chews on it. Whatevs.

It is so fun to have my own little tree!
Now on with the weekend downs:
I woke up Saturday morning at 3am with a migraine.
Normally I have some heavy duty meds that can kill them,
but I ran out this month. So my only option was to head to the ER.
I spent three hours there, and by the time the doctor saw me and
gave me some meds it was too late for them to work.
I took three different drugs and then they sent me home with new prescriptions.
When I got home I went straight to bed and was out for nine hours.
The migraine was back when I woke up so I hit the pharmacy.
Then I slept for seven more hours.

I'm awake now and I feel SO much better,
but I'm bummed that the entire day was wasted.
I had a massive to do list (my house looks like a bomb went off)
papers to grade and a paper to write (which is now late).
Also I'm terrified of the ER bill... I have no idea what to expect.

One of the ups of spending the day in bed was the cats loved it.
They were SO sweet to me and took turns sleeping on my head.
Not sure that helped but they tried their best :)

  2. love your tree and your cats totally remind me of the time when we had cats. one christmas we had our tree up and decorated. left the house for a few hours and came home to find the tree on it's side with about half the ornaments broken. oh the memories. hope your migraine is long gone and stays gone!
