I spent my last day in England in the city of Bath.
We toured the Christmas Market, and it was so crowded
you could hardly see what was in each booth.
Bath Abbey with pigeons.
My dad and I toured the Roman Baths, the ruins of which
were uncovered in the 1800's. Besides the fact that the Great Bath
was beautiful and it was interesting geologically, I most
enjoyed the artifacts that told the story of how the Romans lived.
The curse tablets people wrote and threw into the baths
asked the gods to make petty thieves "pay with blood". It was very dramatic.
I also learned that the Romans used a LOT of lead. Everywhere.
They also had an audio guide by Bill Bryson, one of my favorite authors.
I enjoyed listening to his take on things.
